Ruo sucked his injured thumb as he glared at the small purple furball before him. The ratatta, in turn, glared back ferociously, and shifted his weight from side to side. between them two halves of a pokeball lay neatly in the dirt.
Finally, Ruo drew the thumb out of his mouth, and watched as blood welled up in the cut that his ratatta's teeth had inflicted. His green eyes darted back to his horibble starter, who had jumped a little back, uncertain but feral and ready to attack if he tried anything.
"You are a pain," Ruo declared. "But I'm not going to let you stand in my way, you little terror. I'm bigger than you, and I can bite much harder. In the next town I'll buy some sticking plaster, but if you don't come with me you'll be missing out on food, and if you attack me again, I'll find the nearest persian and feed you to it, understand?"
The rattata continued to stand, blocking his path, and glaring at him with red eyes. Ruo decided that the best course of action would be to walk past the creature, and ignore it. It was amazing how many people would do what you desperately wanted them to do if you pretended that you could get along fine without them.
He walked away, and was rewarded ten seconds later by the sound of scurrying footsteps behind him. He stopped, and turned around smirking. The rattata stopped as well, sitting up, and crossing his stubby forelegs. He sneered back up at the trainer, defiantly. Trying to indicate that he was only going along with things because there was nothing better to do.
"Whatever," Ruo grinned, and continued walking again. It took all of three seconds for the rat to bite him on the ankle. "You're the penance for stealing these boots, aren't you, rat?" Ruo exclaimed.
<Yeah,> the penance sneered. <What are you going to do about it?>

A young Vulpix was trotting along behind Ruo and the Rattata. His first intentions for his walk this morning was to find something to eat for breakfast even though it was already noon. However the fire Pokemon's intentions changed when he came across the pair, they were different and this filled the young Pokemon with curiosity.
The Pokemon's coat was perhaps a different shade from what your average Vulpix was, it was lighter and almost the same colour all over. This was because of the Vulpix's young age, his fur still hadn't changed to its usual colours. The fact that the Pokemon was young meant that his fur would be silky smooth to touch.
<Uh...What are you doing?> He asked innocently as he sat down and tilted his head to the left, looking completely confused and bewildered.

((A young, innocent baby vulpix and this pair of ne'er-do-wells... Boy, oh boy, oh boy))
Ruo swung around, and the penance of a ratatta bared his teeth, as the fur on his back raised. Ruo recognized this pokemon as one of the few wild pokemon that wandered into cities, and knocked over trash bins. However, it seemed a lot less scruffy and mangy.
"Well," Ru'owin thought for a moment, and then grinned. "We're just arguing, fighting, you know, the general run of the mill inseperable buddies stuff."
The rat glanced up at him sharply. Was this guy on some sort of medication, or something?

((Oh yes indeedy))
<Really? Is it fun?> The Vulpix asked looking very innocent. The fire Pokemon's head was still tilted to the side and a clueless expression on his face. The Pokemon really didn't know what these two were doing, whatever it was it looked like fun, well that was what he thought anyway.

"It is for me," the human's grin was knife edged, and Penance found himself sharing it. He sauntered closer to the vulpix, who was barely bigger than he was, at the moment.

<What do you mean?> He asked looking back and forward from Ruo and the Rattata. The Vulpix found their grins to be quite scary and the fact that the Rattata was almost the same size as him was also quite frightening.

"I enjoy fighting," Ruo grinned. "It means you're still alive. Anyway, in really intense fights you get an adrenaline rush, and you don't really notice anything but the thrill of victory."

<Is that, like feeling excited?> The Vulpix asked once more, the poor Pokemon was far too young to understand a lot of things. The small Pokemon wasn't sure why the pair were grinning so much at him, did they know something that he didn't?

Ruo thought about it for a moment. Excitement wasn't really an emotion he was familiar with, since excitement accompannied anticipation, and he had learned early on that anticipation was not to be replied upon as a guide. "I suppose so," he finally answered.
<Oh why don't you just tell me to bite him and get it over with,> Penance growled, before lunging at the vulpix in a tackle attack.

The Vulpix was completely off guard and skidded across the floor from the force of the Rattata's tackle. His fur collecting dirt and dust from the floor, he was starting to look scuffed and quite dirty. The Vulpix also had dirt in it's left eye and was currently closing it tightly and rubbing it with his two paws.
((Sorry it's sort MF, writers block! Xp))

Penance jumped back as the vulpix began to roll in the dirt. When the baby pokemon began to rub his eyes the aggressive rat bared his teeth in a snarl. Weakness was to be taken advantage of. He leaped at the pokemon again, certain that he would take the fox pokemon down.
Ruo, from his vantage point, just watched with interest. Wow, he really got lucky. Hos rattata was vicious, understood that no holds barred was perfectly acceptable, and he didn't even have to direct it as a trainer. This made everything so much easier.

((I'm so sorry for taking so long to reply to this MF! >.<))
Of course being preoccupied and blinded by the dirt in his left eye the Vulpix had forgotten about the Rattata that was charging towards him, of course having quite a short attention span didn't help much either. Finally the fire Pokemon freed itself of the dirt in his eye and was able to see again, by now it was too late to even think about moving. The Vulpix took the hit directly and took critical damage in doing so. The young fire Pokemon wasn't even sure of what was going on, supposedly his fighting instinct hadn't developed properly yet.
Now sprawled out of the floor the Pokemon was struggling to try and get up, or even move for that matter. Suddenly feeling very tired the Pokemon's eyes were growing ever heavier and he didn't know how much longer he would be able to stay awake.
